Edible Plant Hike at Days Canyon

30 Jun 2026 06:30pm

I will lead an edible plants hike on Tuesday, June 30, at 6:30pm, at Days Canyon. This is a short hike with some interesting edible plants such as Western Sweetroot, which has become one of my favorite culinary spices. It ends at a spring with a lot of watercress

Days Canyon is up Hobble Creek Canyon, near Springville. Get directions from the link below. Go past the Hobble Creek golf course, take the right fork, and go about a mile past the Jolley's Ranch park. Turn into Cherry campground, turn left toward the group sites, and park at the group site D parking lot. The trail starts just to the right of group site D, and goes through the right side of the group D area.

There is plenty of parking there on weekdays, but it is used for camping reservations on the weekends. The camp host is graciously letting us use the parking for free, so you will not need to pay any parking or camping fees.
