Foraging Hike on National Park Free Day
25 Aug 2026 06:30pm
August 25 is a National Park Free Day (for the 110th Birthday of the National Park Service). This also means that national forests do not charge parking fees on that day. Normally there would be a $10 fee for parking at nearby national forest trailheads.
So we can do a fee free foraging hike at Aspen Grove Trailhead, and identify a lot of edible berries. I hope to find things like Serviceberries, Chokecherries, Oregon Grape, Raspberries, Thimbleberries, Elderberries, etc.
To get to Aspen Grove Trailhead, drive up Provo Canyon, and turn left where there are signs to go to Sundance Ski Resort. You will drive up that canyon past Sundance until you get to the Aspen Grove Family Camp. Just past the Family Camp is the Forest Service booth and the left turn into the trailhead parking.
